Saturday Golf

Gavin Teasdale (15) made a mockery of his golf link handicap, blitzing the field in an outstanding round last Saturday, easily wining the Stableford competition with 45 points. His final score of six over par 77 was eight strokes better than his handicap and only one stroke higher the best stroke score of the day.

In the Ladies event, Shirley Jenner (23) won with 36 points, outlasting Michelle Dillon (10) who recorded 35 points and will rue her missed opportunities on the fifth and ninth holes. In third place was Rhonda Willoughby (25) who also finished with 35 points.

In the Men’s event Teasdale turned the front nine in five over par, before finishing the back nine in only one over par, which included a fine birdie on the par 5 eleventh hole. In second place was Gary Thorne (7) who recorded 38 points ahead of Chris Waterson (7) who also returned 38 points after being one under the card after the first twelve holes.

Geoff Williams, Peter Wilson, Gary Hayes and Doug Ellwood completed the ball pool. The best round of the day was a five over par 76 by Gary Thorne and Chris Waterson.

Nearest to the pins: Dave Gray (3rd), Allan Free (5th), Chris Bland (9th), Joyce Boyd - Superpin (13th), Ross Nesbit (16th). Peter Hall won the pen.

This Saturday’s event is Monthly Medal.

Thursday Golf

Playing golf competitions at other Clubs paid dividends for Spud McKerrow (26) as his venture to the Kerang Golf Course on August 22 proved very successful, winning the Stableford competition with a better than handicap score of 40 points. Despite a miss on the first and eighteenth holes, McKerrow remained resolute throughout the remainder of his round and hold off the fast finishing Chris Waterson (8) who returned 39 points. Graham Wyte (15) was third, also scoring 39 points.

Gary Thorne (7) and Phil Lloyd (10) completed the ball pool. Both players recorded 38 points.

The best round of the day was a five over par 76 by Gary Thorne and Chris Waterson.

Nearest to the pins Chris Waterson (3rd), Terry Turvey (5th), Jarrad Walker (9th), Denis Bacon (13th), Phil Lloyd (16th). Lachlan Gillies won the pen.

Ladies Report

Cool conditions greeted the ladies for the Par event on Wednesday with Rhonda Willoughby (25) easily winning the competition with plus 5, ahead of Michelle Dillon (10) who recorded plus 1, finishing second on count-back over Nola Robinson (38).

Michelle Dillon won the Chinos voucher for nearest the pin on the 9th hole. Shirley Jenner won the pen.

Next week is the Monthly Medal. Please assemble 9.30am for 10am hit-off.

Please note: Ladies Club Championships commences on 18 September with Jan Harry defending her title. Second round on 25 September with the final round on October 2.
